Survey of Researches in Life Sciences

With the financial support of Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, New Delhi, Dr. Brijesh K. Dwivedi, the General Secretary, Bioved Research Scoiety, Allahabad, compiled a monumental work in Five Volumes, entitled ‘Survey of Researches in Life Sciences’. The said work incorporated contributions of various ‘Life Scienceworkers, the Vol. I and II being purely devoted to Nematology, III and IV to Animal Sciences (Entomology, Fish and Fisheries, Parasitology, Cytology etc.) and Vol. V to Plant Sciences. The Vol. IV (1993) also included the profile of a worker (SK Gupta) from a Post-graduate College [Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru College], imparting education to a district (Banda, Uttar Pradesh) in the backward area of Bundelkhand region. Obviously, with limited resources available, a considerable amount of work was done on the Fishes of Banda District, recording about 86 species [published in the first full length paper entitled ‘Fish Fisheries of Banda district’, way back in 1977].
